The services of Gastroenterology, General and Family Medicine (GFM), and General Practice of Hospital da Luz Setúbal and Hospital da Luz Clínica Luísa Todi will provide, between 18 and 20 February, alcohol consumption screenings. This initiative will be developed in the context of GFM and General Practice consultations performed during that period at Hospital da Luz Clínica Luísa Todi and comprises all clients from the age of 18. Alcohol consumption: When excessive, increases the risk of several diseases, among them diverse types of cancer, liver diseases, cardiovascular, neurologic, and psychiatric diseases, besides interfering in personal and professional relationships. Is always excessive in the case of pregnant and breastfeeding women, children and adolescents, people with addiction, people with disease or taking medication contraindicating the consumption of alcohol. The purpose of this screening is to early identify individuals with risk consumption which should be evaluated in consultation with gastroenterologists. Seeking medical attention could be a decisive step towards solving problems related with alcohol.
