A team of students from the Lisbon Faculty of Medicine (FMUL) trained at Hospital da Luz Learning Health was the big winner of SimUniversity Portugal 2023, which took place on January 13, at the Simulation Centre of Nova Medical School. Catarina Silva, Joana Ferreira, Miguel Bernardino and Raquel Barata will now represent Portugal in SimUniversity, the European competition of clinical simulation promoted by SESAM (Society for Simulation in Europe), during the annual gathering of this organization, which will happen in 2023 in Lisbon (14 to 16 June). Destined to students of the fourth and sixth years of Medicine, the SimUniversity Portugal is promoted by the Portuguese Society of Simulation Applied to Health Sciences (SPSim). The purpose is to stimulate the training of technical and non-technical skills, as well as the application of clinical knowledge in simulated sceneries. In this 2023 edition, participated four teams representing four national faculties of Medicine. Hospital da Luz Learning Health – Luz Saúde company dedicated to research, training and innovation activities, equipped with the actual largest Simulation Centre in the country – has collaborated in the selection of the team representing the Medicine Faculty of Lisbon University and coordinated its subsequent preparation. The team took the SimSchool Med – a Hospital da Luz Learning Health intensive course destined to Medicine students and young doctors, coordinated by André Casado –, consisting in the training of emergency teams, through simulated sceneries. Hospital da Luz Learning Health congratulates all the participants in SimUniversity Portugal and wishes the best successes to the FMUL team for SimUniversity, in June.
