Hospital da Luz Guimarães was a partner in another edition of the Cradle City Half-Marathon, which took place last October 5 . The initiative was a success once again, counting with a record number of around six thousand participants: running or walking along a track set in the central streets of Guimarães, between the castle and D. Afonso Henriques stadium. Organized by the Guimarães City Council in collaboration with “Tempo Livre”, Vitória Sport Clube, and Braga Athletics Association, the competition comprised five events: the half-marathon (21 km), the mini-marathon (10 km), the 5 km-running, the solidary walking (5 km), and the Run Kids (400 m, for children from 5 to 12). In the half-marathon, the triumph belonged to Carlos Costa (Vizela Corre, with a time of 1h 6m 26s) and Mónica Silva (São Salvador do Campo, with a time of 1h 16m 43s). In the 10 km event, the winners were João Rodrigues (Santa Tecla) and Beatriz Fernandes (Vitória SC), and in the 5 km event, Leonardo Oliveira and Ana Pereira. The participating athletes counted with the support of our physiotherapists Maria João Ferreira, Andreia Lopes Moura, Carla Sofia Matos, and Ana Ribeiro Almeida. Contributing to the joy always surrounding the competition, our mascot Lu was present. Hospital da Luz Guimarães congratulates the winners and all the participants in this edition of the Cradle City Half-Marathon. We could not miss an event so special for the community, and we thank the organization for the invitation to join the initiative once again. The support to sports institutions and events is a valuable instrument to meet one of our missions: promoting healthy life habits and preventing disease, which includes the practice of safe sport.
