Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim ensured the clinical assistance to the 25th edition of the International Table Tennis Tournament “Póvoa de Varzim City”, which took place between 15 and 16 March. The Municipal Sports Hall received along the competition 418 athletes, representing 52 national and international clubs. This is one of the major events in the national calendar of the modality – classified as Super Class A, the highest level in an open tournament –, destined to athletes from U13 and U19 categories and seniors, men and women. Lautaro Sato and Tatiana Garnova were the winners in senior’s category, Carlos Gonçalves and Beatriz Pinto in U19, and Tiago Morais and Matilde Sousa in U13. Hospital da Luz has set up a support center in the Municipal Pavilion, equipped with all the means to meet the demands of the tournament. The team included nurses Isa Arantes and Carla Silva, and physiotherapists Joana Teixeira, Guilherme Fontes, Samara Toledo and Vivian Afonso. The International Table Tennis Tournament “Póvoa de Varzim City” is organized by Póvoa de Varzim City Hall (Department of Sports), in partnership with Grupo Recreativo Estrela do Bonfim. It marks the high point of the events integrating the Tennis Table Development Plan, organized by the municipality and comprising a series of individual and collective competitions with the purpose of promoting the practice of sport in the district.
