The latest Luz Saúde internal contest for clinical research grants has already its winners. The jury selected seven projects that stood out by their merits and potential impact on the improvement of healthcare in the areas of cardiac insufficiency, diabetes, immunotherapy, recurrent pregnancy loss, and musculoskeletal lesions. These projects have as main researchers Alcindo Silva , António Proença Caetano , Inês Margarido , Lígia Mendes , Natália Marto , Manuel Lemos and Tiago Neto Gonçalves . Each one of them will receive €7.500 to be paid over the two years of development of the project, taking place in hospitals and clinics within Hospital da Luz network. The contest was launched by Hospital da Luz Learning Health, in the context of Luz Saúde Clinical Research Supporting Program, viewing to contribute to the promotion, structuring and professionalization of research within the Group. Applicants – groups or individual researchers – were to submit projects in the following strategic areas: Preventive medicine and early diagnosis; Precision medicine; Outcomes research; Innovation in health technologies (computational medicine or imagiology). In total, 18 applications were submitted to contest, and evaluated by a jury integrating six internal reviewers and 13 guest specialists. The Luz Saúde Clinical Research Supporting Program was created in 2020, being managed by Hospital da Luz Learning Health. It reflects the commitment of the Group to promote research and innovation, viewing to contribute to the continuous improvement of the healthcare provided. In 2024, 12 individual projects and six research groups were in progress. Which are now joined by these new projects.
