RTP Madeira highlighted Hospital da Luz Funchal (HLF) in its main evening news, reporting the resumption of clinical activity in this unit of Rede Hospital da Luz. In the report, broadcast on the region's public television newscast, HLF's clinical director Miguel Silva explained that the Hospital is prepared to start operating fully again, at the level of consultations, tests or surgeries, but with extra security measures, as mentioned. «We had to avoid carrying out many procedures, in compliance with the rules of the health authorities. But right now, we are already calling our patients to reschedule appointments and exams», he told RTP Madeira journalists. Miguel Silva was keen to point out that the hospital he runs has implemented reinforced measures to protect professionals and patients, warning that there is greater care in disinfecting spaces for consultations, exams and waiting rooms, and it has been decided to space the time between this type of procedures «to avoid crowds of people» and risks for customers. In addition, he added, «all people entering the hospital are screened», with temperature measurement, disinfection, and response to an inquiry into possible symptoms of COVID-19. This is to ensure that Hospital da Luz Funchal will always be functioning as a 'non-COVID' unit. Finally, he explained that surgical patients are tested for SRAS-Cov-2 before being operated, thus ensuring a reduction in post-surgical risks due to eventual infection with COVID-19.
