Hospital da Luz Lisboa offered Ajuda de Berço an emergency vehicle, completed with medications and clinical material, to equip the New House that this institution is about to open in the neighbourhood of Benfica. The donation, made last February 2 by Pedro Líbano Monteiro, executive director of Hospital da Luz Lisboa, occurred in the context of the initiative “20 Years, 20 Causes”, whereby Luz Saúde group is celebrating its twentieth anniversary. “This donation is very important for our project of the New House, also destined for children with chronic diseases and, therefore, in need of a lot of healthcare. It will ease the work of our caregivers and nurses”, highlighted Sandra Anastácio, chairman of the board of the institution. “Ajuda de Berço has a fundamental role, welcoming children at risk or abandoned. Therefore, this is one of the institutions that we are supporting in the context of ’20 Years, 20 Causes’”, emphasized, on its turn, Pedro Líbano Monteiro. Founded in 1998, Ajuda de Berç o is a social solidarity association destined to welcoming and referring babies and children in risk or abandonment situation. The New House is a new building, where the main shelter house of the institution will operate. Along its 24 years of existence, Ajuda de Berço has already received about half a hundred children, distributed between two houses. The new building will allow to expand the response capabilities and offer better conditions to the children it welcomes. The Ajuda de Berço’s budget is mostly based on donations made by its funding entities, companies and individuals. Therefore, all support is welcome and makes a real difference: giving a future to unprotected children.
