Eduardo Carpinteiro , orthopaedist and coordinator of the Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Group from Hospital da Luz Lisboa , gave a class on “Shoulder instability in athletes”, in the scope of a post-graduation module in Sports Medicine promoted by the Portuguese Society of Sports Medicine (SPMD). Along the training session, held on January 18 at SPMD, the specialist made an anatomopathological, clinical and therapeutic analysis of the topic, sharing the experience of Hospital da Luz Lisboa on the matter. Eduardo Carpinteiro also demonstrated the main surgical techniques applied by the Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Group, in cases of shoulder lesion in athletes, namely: Arthroscopic Bankart; Arthroscopic Latarjet; Arthroscopic remplissage; and bone block. The participation in these trainings reflects the recognition by the medical community of the experience of the group of specialists in shoulder surgery, that are part of Hospital da Luz Lisboa Service of Orthopaedics and Traumatology.
