The program implemented by the Pharmaceutical Services from Hospital Beatriz Ângelo (HBA) in the monitoring of electronic medical prescription in paediatrics, was distinguished with the 1 st prize for best communication presented in the symposium of the European Society of Clinical Pharmacy (ESCP), which took place between 23 and 25 October in Ljubljana, Slovenia. The communication – entitled “Small patients / Big solutions: Pharmaceutical intervention in Paediatric Electronic Prescriptions Monitoring” – was presented by Pedro Cardoso, with co-authors Joana Madeira, Nuno Pereira, Lúcia Soares, Eugénia Marques, Miriam Capoulas and Cláudia Santos. The program of paediatrics electronic medical prescription monitoring at HBA arose in the sequence of an analysis of the pharmaceutical interventions made in the area. It was then possible to develop a computing system promoting safety and better results for paediatric patients, besides reducing inefficiencies . The system also allows to provide more information on real time about the prescription and its adjustments according to the patient’s characteristics – being certain that “an integrated approach in the area of paediatrics is crucial for the improvement in health results”. This was the 48 th ESCP Symposium , that had for theme “The Digital Revolution” in health and the role of pharmaceutical professionals. The objective was to offer the participants a comprehensive and innovating approach of the impact of modern technology on clinical pharmacy. With 40 years of existence, ESCP gathers professionals from all over Europe and organizes regularly symposiums, workshops and courses, viewing to promote education and innovation in the practice of clinical pharmacy.
