Sharing and discussing the most recent knowledge on the diagnosis and treatment of blood diseases was the purpose of the annual meeting of the Portuguese Society of Hematology , which took place between 10 and 12 November, at the Congress Centre of Tróia. The organization of this year’s event was ensured by the Clinical Hematology Services of Hospital da Luz Lisboa and the Portuguese Institute of Oncology (IPO) in Lisbon. “This annual meeting is an important moment for the Hematology community in Portugal, where studies carried out by different services in the country are shared, and where national and international speakers are invited to talk about the latest developments in their respective fields”, explains António Medina de Almeida , the director of Hematology of Hospital da Luz Lisboa. In particular highlight in this event, were the symposium organized with the European Association of Hematology and a session on palliative care, having for speaker Isabel Galriça Neto , the director of the Unit of Palliative and Continuing Care of Hospital da Luz Lisboa.
