The 37 open vacancies for young doctors ’ specialization in hospitals of Luz Saúde Group have been filled. This year, for the first time, Hospital da Luz Lisboa will have an intern in General Surgery, the third vacancy to be filled at national level and the first in Lisbon. While the vacancy for training in Medical Oncology was also chosen by one of the best ranked young physicians, being the second vacancy to be filled at national level and among the hospitals of the Lisbon region. Hospital Beatriz Ângelo (HBA) was once again, this year, one of the favourites in the choice of physicians now initiating their specialization, both at national level and among the hospitals of Lisbon region. Internal Medicine at HBA was the first to be chosen at national level. Gynaecology-Obstetrics was the second to be chosen at national level and the first in the Lisbon region. The vacancy in Intensive Care Medicine at HBA was filled in third place, at national level. And the vacancy in Urology was the first to be filled in Lisbon. At Hospital da Luz Lisboa , two interns will start their specialization in Internal Medicine, other two in Intensive Medicine, one in General Surgery, one in Paediatrics, and another one in Anatomical Pathology, this HLL service having been chosen in 4th place in the region of Lisbon. Hospital da Luz Arrábida also filled its only vacancy to train a specialist in Internal Medicine. At HBA, 28 young physicians will now initiate their training, dedicated to 23 specialties: Internal Medicine (the 1st choice at national level); Gynaecology-Obstetrics and Urology (1st choices in Lisbon); Intensive Care Medicine, Vascular Surgery and General Surgery (2nd choices in Lisbon); Otorhinolaryngology, Infectious Diseases and Orthopaedics (3rd vacancies filled in Lisbon); Pulmonology and Gastroenterology (chosen in 4th place in the region of Lisbon); and Paediatrics, Endocrinology, Radiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Psychiatry, Anaesthesiology, and Medical Oncology. The selection process by young doctors took place during the month of November, the start of the specialization training being scheduled for January 2022 . The Ministry for Health provided over 2400 vacancies in hospitals and health centres throughout the country, almost a hundred being left unfilled, most of them in Internal Medicine and General and Family Medicine.
