The colorectal surgeon Susana Ourô and oncologist Tânia Rodrigues are the present coordinators of Hospital da Luz Lisboa Rectal Cancer Centre. Hospital da Luz Lisboa is a centre of reference for the treatment of colorectal cancer since 2016, when it obtained the certification of the Ministry of Health. This represents the recognition of the quality of care provided, the results obtained and the competence of its professionals in the treatment of rectal tumours. Up to now the coordination has been ensured by the director of the Oncology Centre, José Luís Passos Coelho , and Susana Ourô. Specialized in medical oncology, Tânia Rodrigues performs duties in this hospital since 2010, mostly dedicated in her clinical practice to digestive cancer, and head and neck tumours. She has been involved in numerous research and clinical trials in these areas. Susana Ourô is general and colorectal surgeon at Hospital da Luz Lisboa since 2022, previously practicing at Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, and is dedicated to oncologic colorectal surgery and inflammatory bowel disease, laparoscopic and robotic surgery. With a doctoral degree in Medicine and a thesis dedicated to rectal cancer, she is a university professor, trainer in colorectal surgery, and researcher in the area of colorectal disease.
