Ophthalmological Surgery with 3D Technology: a Plus for Patients
The clinical results of cataract and vitreoretinal surgeries performed at Hospital da Luz Setúbal with new 3D technology equipment, available since last September, were all very positive, registering no complications. “This is a plus for physicians, but mostly for patients”, highlights David Martins, the ophthalmologist performing these ophthalmological surgeries.
The equipment now available – Ngenuity 3D Visualization System – captures three-dimensional high-resolution images, allowing the surgeon and his assisting team to visualize in a screen the inside of the eye globe under surgery. These means ensure higher safety in procedures and highly differentiated healthcare providing.
Hospital da Luz Setúbal is the first private hospital unit in the country and the only one in the south region equipped with this innovating and modern technology, which can be applied to multiple situations, especially in vitreoretinal surgery, but also in cataract, cornea and glaucoma surgery.
