Study by André Barros Distinguished at the National Congress of Orthopaedics

The scientific paper presented by André Barros, orthopaedic surgeon at Hospital da Luz units of Lisboa, Oeiras and Amadora, was distinguished as the best free communication at the 38th National Congress of Orthopaedics and Traumatology, which took place between 25 and 27 October, in Viseu.

Entitled “Glenohumeral Instability: Arthroscopic Bankart with strands and no knots vs strands and knots”, this original paper compared prospectively two types of repair of Bankart lesions, in young patients operated by Eduardo Carpinteiro, the coordinator of Group Shoulder and Elbow from Hospital da Luz Lisboa, and André Barros.

In fact, the specialist physicians of this group presented five more oral communications to the congress, that was once again organized by the Portuguese Society of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (SPOT).
