Benfica Players Visit Hospital da Luz Patients
Midfielder Gabriel and goalkeeper Svilar, players of SL Benfica’s main football team, visited, on March 27, the units of paediatric inpatient care and of palliative and continuing care from Hospital da Luz Lisboa. The footballers had the opportunity to have contact with children and adults interned in those areas of the hospital, bringing words of encouragement, posing for photos and giving autographs and gifts by the red team.
In the end, midfielder Gabriel talked to the many journalists about the present and future commitments of SL Benfica, but also about the meaning of this visit to Hospital da Luz, the affection felt and the stories told.
“To be here is always gratifying. To be able to bring some joy, in a visit somehow different to these people, that are in an environment where there is little joy and where no one wants to stay for long”, said the player, referring the requests of the patients visited: “They ask us to fight for victory, to give them joys, and that is what we aim to do”.
Is it worth noting that Hospital da Luz is, since 2014, the official medical service provider of SL Benfica.
