Hospital da Luz is a Recognized European Training Centre in Urologic Robotic Surgery

Hospital da Luz Learning Health received certification by ERUS (European Robotic Urology Society), from the European Association of Urology (EAU), as training centre in urologic robotic surgery (ERUS Reference Training Centre). This is the first centre in the Iberian Peninsula to receive such accreditation of excellence, joining the other 29 existent centres in Europe, now being recognized as competent to provide education (Fellowship) in the area to professionals from other countries.

This ERUS accreditation translates the recognition of the clinical quality of Hospital da Luz Lisboa and is due to its experience in robotic surgery, results, volume of activity and international projection of its major responsible, Kris Maes (in the photo), Director of the Urology Service and coordinator of the units of Uro-oncology and Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery.

Kris Maes will, otherwise, be the organizer of the next ERUS congress, in 2019, which will take place in Lisbon, in partnership with Hospital da Luz Learning Health.

In the simulation centre from Hospital da Luz Learning Health, destined to post-graduate education and certified for robotic surgery training, Kris Mae has already trained three urologists, in conformity with the educational program now accredited by ERUS – which predicts complementary practical training in association with Orsi Academy (European Robotic Surgery Institute – Belgium). Three other surgeons are presently in training.

With ERUS certification, Grupo Luz Saúde takes another step towards its progressive establishment in the European scene of post-graduate clinical education.
