Hospital da Luz Learning Health realiza 1.º Dia ERAS® Portugal

Hospital da Luz Learning Health organizes, on October 20, the 1st Day ERAS® Portugal (“Join the Riot”) to present the main aspects of this innovating program in hospital surgery.

Hospital da Luz Learning Health will organize, on October 20, the 1st Day ERAS® Portugal (“Join the Riot”), to present and discuss the main aspects of application of this innovating program in Portuguese hospitals, as well as the most recent data on the international experience. ERAS® (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) is a multidisciplinary program, based on evidence and focussed on the patient, with the purpose of reducing complications and enhancing recovery after surgery, which implies a change of attitude in the approach to patients and in the management of disease.

This program was implemented in some of the best hospitals in Europe and the United States, Hospital Beatriz Ângelo (HBA) being the only one in Portugal internationally certified as ERAS® Centre of Excellence. HBA health professionals, certified by ERAS Society, are now responsible for the training of other professionals from different Portuguese hospitals, in collaboration with Encare (company associated with ERAS Society), under the coordination of Hospital da Luz Learning Health, Grupo Luz Saúde company dedicated to research, training and innovation. Two series of training have already taken place: the first in October 2017 for professionals from Hospital Fernando Fonseca (Amadora-Sintra) and Hospital da Luz Lisboa; and a second one in May this year, with the participation of professionals from Hospital de Cascais and Centro Hospitalar e Universitário de Coimbra.

It is now time to share experiences and present results, englobing all health professionals interested in the area.
This is the purpose of 1st Day ERAS® Portugal, to be hold on October 20, at Casas da Cidade building (multi-use space), near Hospital da Luz Lisboa.
