Hospital da Luz Lisboa Already Had 200 Patients in Clinical Trial

Hospital da Luz Lisboa has just reached a new milestone in its history, by placing the 200th patient in clinical trial. These patients had the opportunity to try experimental medication in different therapeutic areas.

Participation in clinical trials is a priority of Grupo Luz Saúde, since it enables access to new treatments not yet available in the market, besides contributing to improve medical knowledge. At Hospital da Luz Lisboa, researchers from different specialities – namely, Oncology, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Endocrinology and Gastroenterology – and respective teams (about 40 elements, among nurses, technicians, pharmacists and other professionals) contribute daily to enhance prevention, diagnosis and healthcare provided.

The promotion of clinical trials and the support to the teams concerned are developed by the Research Centre from Hospital da Luz Learning Health, Grupo Luz Saúde company dedicated to professional advanced training, translational research and innovation, in the areas of healthcare management and providing. Since 2009, about a hundred clinical trials were supported in the group’s units, involving over 300 patients, who were able to benefit from innovating therapeutics.
