Hospital da Luz: Best Company in the Health Sector for the Second Consecutive Year

The Hospital da Luz had been awarded Best Company in the Health Sector for a second consecutive year, according to the magazine Exame 500 Maiores & Melhores.

This distinction, a great honor for the Hospital da Luz and the holding company, Espírito Santo Saúde, is a reflection of what can be achieved through ongoing investments in clinical excellence and innovation.   This commitment has contributed to continuous growth of the hospital’s activities since it’s opening in 2007: now 322,000 consultations, 96,000 urgent care visits, 11,800 surgeries, 2050 births, 800,000 diagnostic exams annually. Isabel Vaz, president of the executive commission of Espírito Santo Saúde, says these numbers represent “unprecedented success in the private hospital sector in Portugal.”

According to the magazine Exame the best companies in 27 sectors were evaluated according to eight criteria - sales growth and profits, return on sales, equity and profits, solvency, liquidity and gross value added by sales. These criteria were used to assess the contribution to the economy from each company under consideration for the award, evaluate their dynamism, measure profitability, financial stability, and their ability to meet the needs of various stakeholders in the economy - bankers, shareholders, employees, managers, suppliers, customers and consumers.
