Hospital da Luz Will Be Once Again Estoril Open’s Official Medical Service Provider
Hospital da Luz will ensure, for the fifth consecutive year, medical assistance to athletes and the general public in Millennium Estoril Open tennis tournament, this year happening from April 27 to May 5, at Clube de Ténis do Estoril. During the nine days of the competition, Hospital da Luz will install a clinical centre in the precinct, coordinated by physician Fábio Gonçalves, specialist in sports medicine.
As in the previous four editions, where Hospital da Luz was the official medical partner in the only Portuguese tennis event integrating the ATP World Tour circuit, the medical centre will be divided into two poles: one destined to athletes, supported by the above mentioned specialist in sports medicine, two physiotherapists and two massage therapists; the other destined to the general public, where there will be permanently (during the events) a doctor and a nurse.
In the whole, 21 health professionals will be involved, between physicians, nurses, physiotherapists and massage therapists. Besides human resources, the medical centre will be equipped with the necessary medical devices for assistance, such as an external automated defibrillator, electrocardiograph, portable ventilator and monitor/defibrillator, among others.
Support will also be ensured by two medicalized ambulances for hospital transport, present at the precinct, and by INEM services (medical emergency ambulances and vehicles), which will be activated in more serious situations. Hospital da Luz Lisboa will be the back-end support unit for more differentiated assistance.
Millennium Estoril Open 2019 edition has as top names the Portuguese João Sousa, who won the 2018 edition, the South-African Kevin Anderson, the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, the Italian Fabio Fogini and the French Gael Monfils, among others, in a total of 29 players.
