More than 400 robotic surgeries performed at the Hospital da Luz
The Hospital da Luz has now carried out more than 400 robotic surgeries in different areas:
- Obesity surgery (gastric bypass) - 200
- Prostate cancer surgery - 139
- Colon cancer surgery - 55
- Other urological surgeries - 22
- Other digestive surgeries - 10
- Coronary bypass - 3
- Head and neck cancer surgery - 3
The Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery Center at the Hospital da Luz has state of the art technology and professional experienced staff who are internationally recognized in the field of minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
The acquisition in 2010 of the Da Vinci Si HD robotic surgical system, as well as the Storz OR1 system which has been in place since the hospital opened in 2007, allow surgeons at Hospital da Luz to carry out technically demanding work in minimally invasive surgery.
As such, the hospital is able to perform a large number of highly complex operations using robotic surgery and other minimally invasive techniques on a regular basis.
