Cáritas President Gives Conference at Hospital da Luz Setúbal

Eugénio da Fonseca, the Portuguese Cáritas president, will be the invited speaker in a conference to take place at Hospital da Luz Setúbal auditorium, next November 8.

The intervention, from 13:00 to 14:00 p.m., will be entitled “O papel da Cáritas na comunidade” (The role of Cáritas in the community) and is open to the public in general, besides physicians, nurses and hospital collaborators.

Master in Religious Studies by Faculdade de Teologia of Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Eugénio Fonseca has a wide curriculum of intervention in the social sector.

He is the president of Cáritas since 1999, by appointment of the Portuguese Episcopal Conference, and integrates organs of other entities, such as the Social Economic Council.

Cáritas (or Rede Nacional da Cáritas) includes 20 diocesan Cáritas (with juridical and canonical autonomy) and local groups in different points of the country acting in proximity, with the collaboration of professionals and volunteers.
