European Society of Neuroradiology elects Pedro Vilela
Pedro Vilela, the specialist in charge of neuroradiology at Hospital da Luz Lisboa and Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, was elected Secretary of the ESNR Institutional Council at the last General Assembly of this medical organization, held last September in Belgrade, Servia.
The physician from Hospital da Luz Lisboa and HBA is a specialist in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology, maintaining an intensive international activity among his peers, in the context of European and world organizations of the specialty. In Portugal, he has worked mainly in the investigation of vascular disorders, with a particular focus on cerebral perfusion and cerebrovascular reactivity.
The European Society of Neuroradiology, of which he is now a chief representative, is the most important medical education organization in the field of neuroradiology, gathering the best and most reputable European specialists.
Moreover, Pedro Vilela was also one of the main actors in the elaboration of the new Code of Ethics for neuro-interventions, recently published by the World Federation of Interventional and Therapeutic Neuroradiology (WFITN), which will serve as guideline in daily practice for all specialists in the area.
The physician from Hospital da Luz Lisboa and HBA is the current President of the Portuguese Society of Neuroradiology (SPNR – Sociedade Portuguesa de Neurorradiologia) and is, for six years now, a member of the neuroradiology college of the Portuguese Association of Doctors.
