CT - Computerized Tomography

General Preparation

The last meal prior to taking a computerized tomography (CT) exam should be light.

- If the exam will take place in the morning, have a light breakfast with no restriction on the amount of liquids.
- If the exam will take place in the afternoon, have a light meal at lunchtime, avoiding fats and alcoholic beverages.

These exams are contra-indicated and/or may be limited for people with:
- A history of Asthma;
- Renal Insufficiency or hemodialysis;
- Allergies to medications;
- Allergic reactions to iodine contrast agents used in previous exams.

It is essential to tell the physician or the Radiology technician who will perform the exam if you have any of the above conditions.
