Course of Endoscopy in Otorhinolaryngology: From Diagnosis to Surgery

The Third Theoretical and Practical Otorhinolaryngology (ENT) Course organized by the medical team of Beatriz Ângelo Hospital’s ENT Department and Hospital da Luz Learning Health will take place on 22, 23 and 24 February. This annual event, which has an eminently practical emphasis, is intended for specialists, interns and nursing professionals.

’On one hand the course, which we established in 2017, is aimed at making up for training deficiencies in this field. And on the other, the intention is the mutual learning with the dissemination and sharing of knowledge associated with our experience at Beatriz Ângelo Hospital (HBA). At the same time, we discuss the latest issues in this specialist field with Portuguese and foreigner guests.’ explains Carlos Macor, director of HBA’s ENT Department.

The programme for the first day – more theoretical in nature and which will take place at Hospital da Luz Lisboa – is divided into three main subject areas: new paradigms in endoscopic endonasal surgery (including case studies and discussion); larynx, pharynx and oral-cavity pathologies (with the aim of introducing the most recent diagnostic and surgical techniques); and new horizons in otology (endoscopic ear surgery).

The practical component of the course, on days two and three, will take the form of cadaver dissection at the Anatomy Institute of Lisbon University’s Faculty of Medicine (Santa Maria Hospital building).
