Protechting Selects 12 Startups

The jury of the third edition of Protechting – a program of selection of innovative projects in the areas of health, insurance and services, promoted by Fosun and Fidelidade, with the support of Luz Saúde and the German bank Hauck & Aufhäuser – announced on June 22 the 12 startups selected for the acceleration phase: Humanoo, Rnters and Gistek (in Insurtech area), Copsonic, Spinanalytics and Wall-I (in Fintech area), and Medicsen, Skinsoul, Criamtech, Cardiomo, Baylifetech and TMass (in Healthtech area). The last six ones are mentored by Hospital da Luz Learning Health and by Luz Saúde Marketing and Communication, and Luz Saúde New Businesses, that support them in the improvement of their respective projects and business plans.

The session to announce the 12 finalists counted with the presence of Manuel Caldeira Cabral (the Portuguese minister of economy), Li Haifeng (senior vice-president of Grupo Fosun), Jorge Magalhães Correia (president of Grupo Fidelidade), Isabel Vaz (executive president of Luz Saúde) and representatives of Macau Government. The jury integrates representatives from Fidelidade, Fosun, Luz Saúde and Hauck & Aufhäuser. In boot-camp week of this edition of Protechting, participated 22 teams from 10 countries (Germany, China, Spain, United States, Finland, France, Mozambique, Ukraine, United Kingdom and Portugal).

The 12 startups selected to the acceleration phase will have the opportunity to develop a pilot project in the scope of Grupo Fosun companies, until next October. “We launched Protechting together with Fidelidade, three years ago. Today, we are happy to see that Portugal became a place of reference for the development of startups in Europe. More and more European unicorns grow in Portugal, more and more partners join us in Protechting”, stated Li Haifeng. “Protechting is already a reference in the international context. To incorporate the external and innovating vision of the startups integrating this project is fundamental for us”, confirmed Magalhães Correia.

The final three best projects will be granted a roadshow in China, with access to some of the world top investors and the opportunity to develop their businesses with Fosun, Fidelidade, Luz Saúde or Hauck & Aufhäuser. The winner, with the best business model, will also receive 10 thousand Euros.
In the scope of a partnership between Grupo Fosun and Shanghai Government, the winning startups of this edition of Protechting will also participate in Chuang Qingchun competition – a contest of Young Entrepreneurship and Innovation, taking place in Shanghai, in September.
