The Integrated Continued Care Unit (ICCU) of Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim, with clinical direction of Ivone Fonseca, has hosted a joyful medieval festival, offering patients, families, collaborators, and guests a unique experience of conviviality, culture and sharing. The space was thoroughly transformed in an authentic medieval setting, with castle walls, coats of arms, flags, torchlights, and various decorative elements recreating the characteristic atmosphere of that time. The decoration resulted from the engagement and dedication of patients and the ICCU team, contributing to create a magical and welcoming ambience. The evening counted with the special participation of the theatre group Averteatro, from Elementary School Aver-o-Mar, which delighted the audience with a performance full of colour, creativity, and enthusiasm. The presentation captured the attention and applause of everyone, providing moments of joy, entertainment, and interaction between generations. More than a thematic celebration, this initiative has represented an opportunity to encourage the active participation of our patients, promote conviviality, and reinforce the bonds between all those who are part of this unit’s community. Because caring is also to create moments that inspire, emote, and bring people together, this medieval festival was another demonstration of the commitment of our team to provide significant and enriching experiences, thus contributing to the welfare and quality of life of our patients.
