Isabel Vaz, CEO of Luz Saúde, was yesterday awarded the Gold Medal of the Ministry of Health for Distinguished Service — a tribute and a recognition of everything Isabel Vaz has done for the healthcare sector in Portugal, through the creation of the Luz Saúde Group and all that it represents today within the national healthcare system . The medal was presented by the Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins, at a ceremony held at the Champalimaud Foundation in Lisbon, which also marked World Health Day. The President of the Luz Saúde Clinical Council and former Clinical Director of Hospital da Luz Lisboa, physician José Roquette, was also honoured with a Medal of the Ministry of Health for Distinguished Service . On the occasion, 27 Medals of Distinguished Service of the Ministry of Health – Gold Grade were awarded to individuals and institutions who, through the merit of their work carried out for the benefit of health in Portugal, earned this public recognition. Several institutions from the fields of science, research and academia took part in the celebration, including the Champalimaud Foundation, which hosted the event, the Clinical Research and Innovation Agency (AICIB), AIBILI, i3S – the Institute for Research and Innovation in Health, and the GIMM – Gulbenkian Institute for Molecular Medicine.
