The goal was to clear doubts and share experiences in an informal setting with no taboos and accessible precise clinical information – which was fully achieved. Along one month (April), every week, on Wednesdays, the team of the Gynaecology-Obstetrics service from Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim has organized the event “Among us women” , which comprised a cycle of talks open to the population with gynaecologists on women’s health at the various stages of life. The initiative, registering high adherence, has moreover served to present the Gynaecology speciality of Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim as proximal accessible area of excellence on women, following them throughout the various stages of life. The five sessions were held in groups, in an unformal and welcoming environment, organized around a table, a format that has proven particularly innovative, favouring a differentiating experience with the active participation of the public and direct interaction with the physicians present: Ana Branca , Augusta Matos , Belandina Gil , Margarida Brandão , Marina Sousa Gomes and Marta Rodrigues . The program of the sessions was structured to fully encompass the life cycle of women, starting in adolescence, passing through intimate health, infections identification and prevention (with special emphasis on HPV), menopause, and the importance of disease prevention and early diagnosis. Throughout the event, participants had the opportunity to: Understand what is considered normal and not normal along the menstrual cycle and beyond the cycle. Identify and approach difficulties in sexual intercourse. Contextualize menopause as a natural stage in women’s life that can be lived in a balanced and smooth way. Recognize the importance of HPV vaccination. Identify and manage vaginal infection recurrence. Value the role of a healthy diet and the regular practise of physical exercise throughout life. Know about the available gynaecological exams adequate to each stage. Identify the gynaecological surveillance periodicity at each stage of life. Throughout the sessions myths were debunked and concerns, fears and anxieties lived by women were discussed in a clear and direct way. The presence of the clinical team has contributed to reinforce the credibility and quality of the information shared, enhancing education in gynaecological health. Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim counts with an experienced and acknowledged clinical staff oriented towards the welfare of its clients, ensuring continuous differentiated and high-quality follow-up throughout the life cycle of women.
