Hospital da Luz Póvoa de Varzim has joined the Syla Group São Pedro Cup, one of the major young football tournaments in the country , organized by Varzim Sport Club with the support of the municipality and integrated in São Pedro annual festivities. This was the fourth edition of the event held in two consecutive weekends (14/15 June and 21/22 June) at Póvoa de Varzim Municipal Sports Complex and Varzim Stadium, with the participation of 272 teams, 60 clubs and over 3,800 children in Under-6 and Under-14 categories. Beyond its dimension, the tournament stands out for the atmosphere of enthusiasm, team spirit, and fair play, providing memorable moments to athletes, families, and the organization – all gathered here “in a true celebration of football”, as highlighted by Tobias Trocado, the coordinator of the event. Lu, Hospital da Luz mascot, has animated the four days of the tournament, enthusing the young ones with its cheerfulness: distributing lots of hugs and balloons, taking pictures, encouraging cheer squads and athletes, and delivering MVP diplomas (most valuable player) to the best players in every match.
