Hospital da Luz is Already in Madeira Island
Clínica de Santa Catarina and Policlínica do Caniço are now Hospital da Luz Funchal and Hospital da Luz Clínica do Caniço, respectively.
Located in the centre of the city and equipped with the latest technology, the new Hospital da Luz Funchal offers a wide range of healthcare, counting with the collaboration of some of the best specialists in the Autonomous Region of Madeira. The unit has consultation in different medical and surgical specialities, modern complementary means of diagnosis, inpatient capacity with comfort and quality and an operating theatre soon to be ready for the most differentiated surgeries. The hospital provides emergency assistance from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 and 20:00.
Established in 1963, under the name of Clínica de Santa Catarina, this hospital unit was acquired in March 2017 by Grupo Luz Saúde and has been extensively renovated in several areas, now benefiting from modern logistic and physical structures and top level technology equipment.
In the district of Santa Cruz, Luz Saúde acquired Policlínica do Caniço, now designated Hospital da Luz Clínica do Caniço, operating in close articulation with Hospital da Luz Funchal. The clinic has a service of Occupational Health and provides differentiated ambulatory care, with consultations in several medical and surgical specialties, complementary means of diagnosis and urgent assistance (from Monday to Friday, between 8:00 and 20:00, at Saturday from 8:00 to 13:00).
Hospital da Luz Funchal and Hospital da Luz Clínica do Caniço have agreements established with the main health insurers, complementary health systems and similar. Consultations and exams are available in different specialities (Orthopaedics, Internal Medicine, General Surgery and Plastic Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, Gastroenterology, General and Family Medicine, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Otorhinolaryngology, Paediatrics, Pulmonology, Nephrology and Neurology), as well as analyses and an Imaging Centre (including echography, mammography, X-ray, CAT and magnetic resonance).
The clinical director is Luís Gaspar, specialist in Anaesthesiology, and nursing director is nurse Lúcia Sousa.
