Neuropsychology at Hospital de Santiago

Starting in October, the range of clinical services at the Hospital de Santiago will include neuropsychology. This is an area which comprises consultation, cognitive rehabilitation (cognitive training) and neuropsychological assessment.

The main aim of neuropsychological assessment is to build up a neuropsychological profile, through a detailed evaluation of cognitive functions (such as memory, language, visual-spatial skills, attention processes and decision-making functions) and the behavior of patients with suspected or confirmed brain pathology.

There are various brain pathologies that may benefit from a neuropsychological assessment, such as acquired brain injuries (for example: traumatic brain injury, stroke, brain aneurysms, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, brain tumors) and neurodegenerative diseases such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
