Hospital da Luz and CTT-Correios de Portugal established a partnership aiming to facilitate access to health care. This innovating project has already started in CTT agencies in Alcobaça, Leiria and Viseu, where clients can schedule consultations and exams and even take video consultations with physicians of Hospital da Luz network. Thought to avoid unnecessary trips, as well as to overcome mobility difficulties and digital illiteracy, especially among the older population, this project will make it easier to contact the Hospital da Luz services, taking advantage of the network of CTT-Correios de Portugal agencies. In the CTT agencies selected and in partnership with Hospital da Luz: It will be possible to schedule consultations and exams , with the help of the agency personnel, which will receive specific training for that purpose. Take video consultations with physicians of Hospital da Luz network . These consultations will take place in reserved spaces (video consultation rooms), especially conceived for that end, guaranteeing all the requirements of privacy, comfort and safety. There will be available planned video consultations (with prior appointment) , for all medical specialities, and also urgent video consultations (for adults and children) – i.e. with no need of prior scheduling, for cases of acute illness, but where there is no need to proceed to a physical examination. In an initial stage, the project will be launched in CTT agencies of Alcobaça, Leiria and Viseu, then being gradually extended to other locations. All health care is ensured by Hospital da Luz clinical team, the urgent video consultation being performed by physicians on duty in the Urgent Assistance service of Hospital da Luz network , the clients being able to get in-person access to the nearest Hospital da Luz unit, whenever necessary. With this new service, Hospital da Luz and CTT-Correios de Portugal take an important step towards accomplishing one of their major goals: to be closer to the populations they serve. It is also worth mentioning that the equipment to be set in CTT agencies for the video consultations – the video consultation room – was designed and produced in Portugal, by a consortium of national companies, that they are also part of and with which they collaborate through several partnerships.
