Hospital da Luz Arrábida has performed over 5,000 free health screenings during Oporto Book Fair, which took place at Palácio de Cristal from August 21 to September 6. Throughout the event, hospital teams were available to receive all visitors wishing to undertake health indicators (glycemia, blood pressure, and cholesterol) and lung cancer risk factors screenings , besides providing information and advice on any questions posed. The total of screenings performed clearly demonstrates the wide acceptance of the public and the impact of the initiative on the promotion of prevention and literacy in health. Besides screenings, Hospital da Luz Arrábida ensured first aid support during the fair . The presence in the event was also thought to reach the younger ones and families. Therefore, the space occupied by Hospital da Luz was stage of many activities destined to children, counting with the help of our mascot Lu that brought even more joy. The community library was another highlight encouraging book share and reinforcing the connection between health, culture, and community. With this participation, Hospital da Luz Arrábida has fulfilled its commitment to take health closer to people, creating moments of contact, enlightenment, and prevention outside the hospital context. Whenever the community so requests, we are there!
